What is Ixora (Rukmini / रुक्मिणी)?
Rukmini (Ixora coccinea) is a shrub with dense clusters of bright red or orange tubular flowers. It is commonly grown in Indian gardens. The flowers and roots are used medicinally. The root decoction is used in diarrhea and dysentery. The flowers have hemostatic properties. The plant is evergreen with opposite glossy leaves. Hibiscus species are sometimes confused with Ixora.
